Jimi Nelson was born in Moline Illinois (the home of John
Deer Tractors) and adjacent to Rock Island Illinois (from
the song "Rock Island Line" made famous by Johnny Cash.
From the day he was born
his parents played all of the country greats including HANK
WILLIAMS, JOHNNY CASH, WAYLON JENNINGS, WILLIE NELSON, and
early ELVIS PRESLEY just to name a few. Getting his
first guitar at age 12 he knew from that moment what he was
born to do. Playing in and winning his 8th grade
talent show and hearing the girls scream only helped to fuel
the fire.
Jimi then went on to win numerous local talent contests and began playing
in night clubs in high school. After high school he
toured the United States for over 5 years playin' clubs from
New York to Los Angeles and every town in between.
Realizing how much he loved California, Jimi now resides in
Los Angeles and is destined to make his mark in country
music.
Jimis band the "Drifting Cowboys" are all seasoned musicians he has
played with over the years, and insisted on having members
he was already friends with. Eddie "Bareback" Montes
on lead guitar, Paul "Humbolt County" Jeager on bass and Ryan
"The Bronc 'O' Connor on drums.
This is a band that must be seen live to be fully appreciated.
Jimi Nelson and the Drifting Cowboys coming soon to a honky
tonk near you!
